i think islamic reading can be categorized into 3
1. QURAN learn to read it and if you know how to read it learn to improve on your reading the Quran.
2.Hadith of the prophet and worship in islam which i will advice that you can get a guide local imam to help you on this.
3. islamic history focusing on biography of the prophets, companions and their students,to the four great imams and islamic scholars etc.
while looking at the general reading, i would also suggest that one can focus on improving his/her life which is stated and secondly, looking at improving the society at large looking for books that will help you make a positive impact on the society you live.
i think this can be a guide for reading.
