If possible, it is preferable to distribute one’s Zakat to eligible recipients in one’s own locality. However, it is permissible to do so in other states/countries too. What we are emphasising in this article is that one should not neglect those in need in one’s own locality and be oblivious to the right that they have to the funds of Zakat payers in their community.
