To my fellow Muslim sisters/brothers, I say: As-salaamu ‘alaykum wa rahmatullaahi wa barakaatuhu. I am writing this to point out a possible mistake in the translation of the Prophet’s (sallAllaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) du’aa during Witr salaah, where the author wrote, “He whom Thou befriendest is not humbled.” Of course, this has to be wrong because Allah SWT would never befriend one of His slaves unless he/she was humble; an example of this is Ibraaheem (‘alayhis-salaam). The correct translation for this du’aa is, “He whom Thou befriendest cannot go astray, and he whom Thou takest as an enemy cannot be held as honourable.”
In Arabic, the du’aa is:
اللهم اهدني في من هديت و عافني في من عافيت و تولني في من توليت و بارك لي في ما اعطيت و قنا واصرف عني برحمتك شر ما قضيت فانك تقضي و لا يقضا عليك. انه لا يضل من واليت و لا يعز من عاديت تباركت ربي و تعاليت.

Maybe it would be better if there’s the arabic version and the source each dua. As I know, the best duas only came from Qur’an and hadits. Jazakillahu khairan.

Asalam o alikum .. Found this article when ramadan is almost leaving.. But still i found it very usefull,… :) Duas beautifully put together.. Really loved the translations are tagged along with arabic verses.
