It’s very much a part of Ramadan.

I’m glad to see that you got a good look at what fasting is like! While I agree that it is a challenge, it is definitely one that you can overcome, as I’m sure you’ve also seen. With fasting, you really have to plan out your day and make sure that you don’t overtire yourself. I like to plan little naps here and there to ensure that I keep my energy levels up, and eating healthy (i.e moderate-sized meals) at dawn and sunset is much better for you in the long run: you don’t want to gain too much weight from stuffing yourself with food! Generally, I find that I get more things done in the morning when the hunger pangs haven’t come yet and I’m more attentive.

Also, if you’re interested, there’s a charity fast that’s done every year by World Vision called the 30 Hour Famine. It’s exactly how it sounds (you go 30 hours without eating), but they allow for water and plain boiled rice and other things like that, to make sure you don’t end up killing yourself. After going through it, you also gain a perspective on what it means to go without food, and that even if you do have some plain food, what it means to be on the receiving end of it.

I hope that things go well for you~

It hasn’t led me to Islam (yet!) but has certainly helped me appreciate the beauty of the faith. I was dreading the fast before I started, but it’s been a really fantastic and humbling experience so far. hey, there may still be time!

I rellay like the “lecture” (even though he didn’t want to call it a lecture :p), I haven’t heard about him from before. I like that he seems more relaxed, not so strict even though he follows Islam and it’s rules. So I feel it’s easier to learn from him. Thank you for posting the video :D
