Getting critical remarks from people oftentimes leads me to realise how limited I am in my capacity. I accept my mistake and only blame myself, rather than finding excuses. This is usually not easy to start of with; you feel heart full of ego and proud.

Then I try to extract lessons from the experience. Hoping to become a better person.
It has worked most of the time.

My summary of the above article boils to two points:

1-Just be nice and genuine.  [giving constructive criticism]
2-Be humble and confident. [receiving criticism]

I would just like to add one point to this conversation: when we are criticized for things we never did or subjected to criticism that is purely based on speculations and irrational judgements (for example: questioning a woman’s honor without even providing the Shariah stipulated proofs), then in such cases, one of the best things to do as a believing Muslim would be to adopt silence and dissociate ourself from such people.

I always find these two ayahs very encouraging in situations like these:

And the servants of the Most Merciful are those who walk upon the earth easily, and when the ignorant address them [harshly], they say [words of] peace (Surah Furqan 25:63)Take what is given freely, enjoin what is good, and turn away from the ignorant. (Surah A’raf 7:199)

May Allah (swt) increase us in knowledge and guide us to the right path, Ameen.
